Obtaining a tourist/business visa to the USA in Poland for Russians
Obtaining a tourist/business US visa in Poland
In the current year 2023, Russians face a difficult situation in the matter of obtaining a US visa – it is impossible to do this on the territory of Russia. Non-immigrant US visas are not issued to Russians on the territory of the Russian Federation from May 12, 2021. In this regard, American embassies located on the territory of other countries began to accept Russian citizens. By contacting them, you will have no cause for concern – although there are few places for non-residents, our bot will be able to catch a window for you.
The process of obtaining a visa: questionnaire
To start obtaining a US visa in Poland for Russians, you need to complete the first step – fill out the DS-160 form. If the entire family is applying for a visa, the form is filled out for each family member separately, regardless of age. The document indicates the data of the foreign passport, phone number, and address of the applicant. The questionnaire will also ask about your education, family, studies or work, previous trips to the United States (if any), military service, and travel experience to other countries. All items on the questionnaire are filled out in English. At the end, you will be asked to upload a photo that meets certain requirements. It must be taken no earlier than six months before the date of the interview.
Our recommendation is to read articles or watch videos on how to fill out the questionnaire. It is important to fill out the document without errors, typos, and inaccuracies. The visa officer reviews the questionnaires before the interview, so correct answers and the absence of errors in them will create the right impression about you.
Personal account
Along with filling out the questionnaire, you also need to register and fill out a profile on the website of the American Embassy in Poland. At this stage, the applicant sets a login and password, as well as enters personal data.
After you have logged into your personal account, indicate what type of visa you plan to obtain. The system will also ask you to enter the data from your foreign passport and specify the number of the DS-160 form that you filled out. If the whole family is applying for a US visa in Poland, you can enter information about all its members in your personal account. In this case, you need to create a joint account. US visa in Poland is submitted by the whole family, you can enter information about all its members in your personal account. In this case, you need to create a joint account.
Payment of the fee and scheduling an interview
After filling out your profile, you will see that you are required to pay the consular fee. Without paying it, the applicant will not be able to schedule an interview. It's convenient that the fee can be paid online. The payment confirmation will be displayed in your personal account. When the payment is recorded by the system (which may take some time), a calendar with available dates for the interview will open. Due to the limited number of places for non-residents and a large number of applicants, at this step you are likely to find an empty calendar. You can periodically visit the site and "catch" a window, or, in order to save your time, entrust the scheduling of the interview to a bot. As soon as a free date becomes available, the service will automatically schedule you!
After you have managed to schedule an interview, be sure to print out the document confirming your appointment on a specific day and time. Take it with you to the interview.
Documents and interview at the embassy
So, you know the date of the interview. It's time to prepare the documents, including registration and other documents justifying your specific situation. As for registration, this is a confirmation of Form DS-160, a photo, a receipt for payment, and confirmation of registration for an interview, without which you will simply not be allowed into the Embassy building. All other papers are presented upon request during a conversation with a visa officer. There are cases when in the same situation, applicants are asked for different papers. But the standard list of documents remains unchanged.
You will typically be asked to show proof of financial status. These may be bank statements and a certificate from your place of work. Be prepared to confirm that you have a steady source of income and savings in your bank account. An applicant who is officially recognized as unemployed needs to provide documents from a sponsor. They can be a spouse or parents who will pay for the trip and expenses during their stay in the USA.
On the eve of the scheduled interview, we recommend reviewing your answers to the questionnaire, and even memorizing them. It is important that they do not differ from the oral answers you will give to the consul.
Since you are planning to open USA B1/B2 visa, the consul will ask about the purpose of your trip. Tell us where and for how long you are going. This type of visa implies a short-term visit. Travelers are important to make the consul understand that they will not stay in the States, but will return back. So it is worth showing that there is a family, business, property, close relatives at home who will act as a guarantor of your return.
We recommend taking a certificate confirming your ownership of real estate, birth certificates of children and marriage. If you are applying for a guest/business visa, take with you an invitation from the party that receives you. In case of traveling to America for study, provide a document from the educational institution.
An important nuance - in Krakow, the interview is conducted in English, so translate the documents into English in advance. If you are applying for a visa in Warsaw, no translation is needed, since everything is in Russian.
Result
If you have prepared everything correctly and filled out the forms properly, you have a high chance of obtaining a positive result. Usually, the applicant receives their passport with the visa by mail within a few days after the interview.
